This month’s VBWA/VWWA Annual Convention in Ponte Vedra, Florida served as an invaluable opportunity for us to come together, share camaraderie, and hear from our esteemed political and industry leaders.

This is not just a gathering; it’s a celebration of the unity and strength that define our association. We had over 150 peers in attendance, and the energy was palpable. The convention provided a platform for us to discuss critical issues, explore new ideas, and reinforce the bonds that make our community so resilient.

We continue to focus on issues of importance to beer and beverage distributors in Virginia, ensuring we are well-prepared to navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead.

A highlight of the convention was the introduction of our new board members and leadership. I look forward to continuing to work closely with all these leaders to advance our priorities and protect the interests of beer and beverage distributors. Together, we will continue to champion the values that underpin our industry and ensure its sustained success.

I also want to take this moment to spotlight our VBWA Emerging Leaders Program, an initiative designed to prepare the next generation of leaders to advocate for our industry in our warehouses, on Main Street, and at the General Assembly. It is crucial for us to equip future leaders with a comprehensive understanding of our system and laws, effective lobbying techniques, and other critical advocacy skills. More details are within this newsletter, but we encourage those interested in registering for the Emerging Leaders Program to do so now before it closes.

Here are the session dates.

  • Session One: September 17-18, 2024 — The Cavalier Resort, Virginia Beach
  • Session Two: October 16-17, 2024 — Meetings at the National Beer Wholesalers Association offices, Alexandria (hotel information coming soon)
  • Session Three: November 13-14, 2024 — The Hotel Roanoke, Roanoke
  • Session Four & Graduation Ceremony: Date TBD, January 2025 — During the 2025 Legislative Conference in Richmond

I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to everyone who contributed to making the VBWA/VWWA Annual Convention a success. Your dedication and enthusiasm are what drive our association forward. Let’s continue to build on this momentum and look ahead to a promising summer and future.

Cheers,

Philip H. Boykin
